A career as a shop owner or worker will not translate to high job potential if you move. Additionally, if you become certified or licensed in a specific place, you may not be able to continue this career if you move, or you may have to return to school. If your career is something that will require you to remain in one place, you might want to re-think your career options.
Build a skill set that is needed everywhere: As you prepare for your career, you should consider a career that is going to be in demand nationwide – meaning a career that you’ll find in almost every community across the nation. This will ensure that you have the opportunity to find employment when you are required to move.
An example of such a career is real estate salesperson. With homeowners making the decision to sell their homes virtually every day, you have an opportunity to join a field that needs professionals in any type of market – real estate is an accessible career that enables you to work from a home office or out in the field on a flexible schedule. Plus, with many states having reciprocal agreements for recognizing and granting licenses if you have a real estate license from another state, you can easily transfer your skill set when you move to a new state – a plus for military spouses!
